Dizziness & Balance

Dizziness, balance and fall prevention involve many overlapping areas.  The reason we look at it here is because the inner ear is almost as important as the brain in controlling the functions that impact our sense of where we are in space.  When we can’t sense this properly we may feel like we are moving when we aren’t, feel like things are moving when they aren’t or can’t keep things stable in our field of vision.  We might not feel very sure footed when walking on the sand or on a plush carpet, going down aisles in the grocery store, or when you close your eyes in the shower.  Any of these problems can lead to falls, to other injuries, and to concussions.  Moreover, concussions can lead to problems with the inner ear.  Now that’s a hot mess!
